The Norton 8501A 693 is a heavy-duty surface-mounted door closer designed for interior and exterior applications. Built with a cast aluminum body and rack-and-pinion mechanism, it delivers reliable performance across extreme temperatures (-40°F to high heat) and exceeds 10 million cycle life. Non-handed design works on doors of either hand, making it ideal for multi-door facilities, commercial buildings, and retrofit projects where durability and consistent closure matter.
The 8501A features adjustable spring power (sizes 1-6), independent sweep and latch speed controls, backcheck intensity adjustment, and optional delayed action closing, all hex-key adjustable for field tuning. Surface projection is 2-1/8" maximum with standard full plastic cover.
