The Norton 8301 J8301H 690 is a heavy-duty surface-mounted door closer designed for commercial interior and exterior applications. Built with a cast aluminum body and rack-and-pinion mechanism, it delivers reliable performance across extreme temperatures (down to -40°F) and exceeds 10 million cycles. Non-handed design fits doors of either hand, reducing inventory complexity for multi-unit projects.
This closer installs on the door frame with a slim-line plastic cover, projecting just 2-1/8" from the surface. Spring power adjusts from size 1-6, with independent hex-key valves for sweep speed, latch speed, and backcheck control.
