The Schlage L9040 17A is an ANSI Grade 1 mortise lock designed for high-traffic institutional environments including schools, hospitals, and factories. This extra-heavy-duty lock features a fully wrapped steel case, zinc dichromate-plated working parts, and two-piece anti-friction tongue to withstand constant daily use and abuse without fail.
The L9040 accepts ten functions in a universal case and supports field-reversible handing without opening the lock. It is compatible with standard mortise lock preparation and includes a fail-secure fusible link for fire safety.
