Description
The jimmy proof deadbolt is a New York City icon for a reason: its interlocking vertical bolt design physically prevents the door from being pried or spread away from the frame, the attack that defeats most standard deadbolts. This Segal single-cylinder model is the original pattern, surface-mounted to the inside of the door so installation does not require mortising.
The cast bronze case, bolt, and strike take decades of use, and the shutter guard protects the cylinder from tampering. It is the standard recommendation for apartment entry doors, brownstones, and any inswing door with an older or worn frame. The surface mount also makes it the easiest serious security upgrade a renter or landlord can install with basic tools.
