The Norton 8501 is a heavy-duty surface-mounted door closer designed for high-traffic commercial and institutional interiors and exteriors. It solves the need for reliable, hands-free door control with minimal aesthetic impact, using a non-handed rack-and-pinion design that works on doors of either hand.
The 8501 fits doors 28 to 32 inches wide and projects only 2 1/8 inches from the door surface with its standard full plastic cover. It is adjustable for spring power (sizes 1-6), sweep speed, latch speed, and backcheck intensity via hex key valves.
